Social Justice Action Project, Britnee And I Interviewed...
For the Social Justice Action Project, Britnee and I interviewed college students in the Northeast region who revealed their views on the Black Lives Matter Movement, racial injustice, and racial profiling. We had wanted to inform people of what the Black Lives Matter Movement stood for and tackle some of the myths and misconceptions of what the organization represented. In the process, the interviewees have expressed their feelings of how todayââ¬â¢s society is blinded by irrational thinking and biased beliefs. This project have made us realize that people often blame the movement of being inconsiderate to all lives matter, relating the movement to the ââ¬Å"armed and dangerousâ⬠Black Panthers, and the never-ending issues of police-to-black killings. We have chosen this topic for many reasons. For one, it is a topic that we both have had deep interest and compassion for. It is a discussion that is often skewed by media and not addressed enough to the public and the governm ent. Many people would sweep this issue of racial inequality under the rug and is not seen as a problem to many. Moreover, it is a constant reoccurring issue in the Black community where police brutality has become systematic. Stories such as Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice ad Michael Brown are examples of the standards where police misconduct is minimal. Accused cops are often rarely prosecuted for their actions and their cases are often dismissed since prosecutors and juries tend to believe cops. Minorities,
